Dr Gape Kaboyakgosi

Board Chairperson

Dr. Gape Kaboyakgosi has over 20 years of experience working as a policy analyst/policy advisor as well as in education administration. As a policy analyst, Dr. Kaboyakgosi had a role in the design, review, and formulation of policies in multiple sectors including anticorruption, transport, waste management, fiscal policy, education, and others. His roles include Vice-Chancellor at Limkokwing University of Creative Technology (2018-2021), previously Deputy Vice-Chancellor at ABM University, and Senior Research Fellow at the Botswana Institute for Development Policy Analysis. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Public Policy from the Australian National University, a master’s degree in Public Administration from Syracuse University, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Botswana. He currently serves in the board of directors of the Botswana Communications Regulatory Authority, and the Competition and Consumer Tribunal.

Michael M. Mogopa

Michael M. Mogopa is the director and co-founder of Gomba Mining. He has over 30 years of experience in mining, mineral exploration and consulting (groundwater, information systems and environmental planning and management). Prior to co-founding his own companies, he worked for Geoflux (Pty) Ltd where he rose to the rank of Executive Director. Mr Mogopa holds a holds a BSc (Hons) Geology and MSc Geographical Information Systems from the Universities of Nottingham and Edinburgh, respectively. Mr Mogopa is also co-founder and director of Serwe Mining and Pyro Carbon Energy.

Kopano Bolokwe

Kopano Bolokwe is the Head of Product Development at the Botswana Stock Exchange. He has over 10 years of experience in capital markets, covering stock brokerage, investment analysis, asset management, capital markets regulation, investment promotion, product development and capital markets strategy. Prior to joining the Botswana Stock Exchange, he worked for Stanlib where he rose to the rank of Investment Analyst. Mr Bolokwe holds a Bachelor of Finance and Master of Business Administration from the University of Botswana. In addition, he also holds a Graduate Certificate in Capital Markets from the George Washington University. Mr Bolokwe currently serves as the Secretary General for the Botswana Bond Market Association.

Bilkiss Moorad

Bilkiss Moorad is a well-known leader in the insurance industry with over 20 years’ experience in the field. She is currently the CEO of Hollard Life. Her leadership of note is when she led as the CEO of Liberty Life and Barclays Life which were start-ups in Botswana. She also served as a CEO of Botswana Life. Bilkiss has also served as CEO of Zurich Insurance Botswana which has given her insight in to the short-term insurance industry. Adding to this experience are her skills in strategic management, business development and relationship and stakeholder management. Not only has Ms, Moorad got a sound insurance background but she is also an incredibly motivated leader and has managed to build an inspired and efficient business structure within her team. Ms. Moorad is a fellow certified Chartered Accountant and she is a member of Botswana Institute of chartered Accountants. She is a former board member of Botswana University of Science and Technology and Local Enterprise Authority to name a few.

Thabile Faith Moipolai

Ms. Thabile Faith Moipolai is the Head of Human Capital, having joined the Botswana Development Corporation in July 2015. She was previously with De Beers Group of Companies where she held various HR roles, most recently that of Human Resources Business Partner. During her stay at De Beers, her key achievement included successfully driving the ‘future world of work’ project which was aimed at looking at the business using an innovative and future focused lense in order to ensure business sustainability through efficient talent management and people development including across the SADC Region. Ms. Moipolai has served in leadership roles at other prominent organisations locally and internationally, including at Botswana Insurance Fund Management as HR Business Partner. Ms. Moipolai has accumulated extensive experience in driving people-first operational agendas to assist with business strategy implementation and service delivery, and is passionate about Talent Acquisition and interrogating the readiness of leaders to meet the current and future needs of the business and its strategy. She holds a BSBA (Bachelor of Science in Business Administration) with a Major in Human Resources Management from the University of Nebraska, Omaha USA.

Maleho Mothibatsela

Maleho Mothibatsela is Chief Investment Officer and Founder of Blackthread Capital. He has over 23 years of experience in the financial services sector primarily in institutional; high net-worth investment management and corporate advisory. Prior to founding his own firm, he worked for Robert Fleming; JP Morgan (Europe) Limited, and the Imara Group, as analyst; sector equity specialist and ultimately progressing to executive management from 2005. Mr. Mothibatsela holds a Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting and Economics from the University of Botswana. He has served in several fiduciary capacities over his career; including, Botswana Public Officers Medical Aid Scheme and Fleming Asset Management Botswana. Mr. Mothibatsela currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Pula Medical Aid Fund.

Kgaotsang Faith Matthews

Kgaotsang Matthews is a legal practitioner with over 19 years of experience in mainly real estate property transactions, corporate/commercial law, estates, and regulatory and compliance work. She is a Partner and Co-Founder of Moribame Matthews Attorneys. She started her legal career as State Council at the Attorney General’s Chambers. She then moved to private practice and now heads the Real Estate Property Department at Moribame Matthews. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Botswana and is a member of the Bar (High Court of Botswana). She serves as Vice-Chairperson of the Special Economic Zones Authority, Board Member of Kgare Insurance Brokers (Pty) Ltd, Trustee of the Botswana Book Center and is the Secretary-General of Botswana Swimming Sports Association.

Spencer Kaisara

Spencer Kaisara is the Managing Director of ChemServe Botswana. He has over 35 years of experience as a metallurgist in the mining industry. Prior to the ChemServe Botswana assignment, Mr. Kaisara was a Debswana sponsored graduate who worked for Debswana Diamond Company for over 25 years. He rose through the ranks from graduate metallurgist to Consulting Metallurgist and Group Manager (Technical Services). Mr. Kaisara holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mineral Engineering from the University of Leeds, UK. Mr. Kaisara has served in several boards including CEDA and BIUST Founding Council. He is on the Engineers Registration Board as a member of the Mining Professional Assessment Committee.
